Common questions

Stories stop when my screen locks. On iPhone, open Settings > Stride Stories > Location and choose "Always". With "While Using", stories only play while the screen is on. Location is only used during a tour.

Stories aren't playing at the right place. Check that location is set to "Always" (above). If you're off the route, tap "I'm here" to play the next story.

My music doesn't come back after a story. Start your music first, then start the tour. If it stays quiet, press play again in your music app.

How do I get the Spotify playlist? Open a tour's Soundtrack, pick a few genres or artists, and tap "Make my Spotify playlist", then "Play on Spotify". You don't need to sign in to Spotify through us.

Is it free? Do I need an account? Yes, it's free, with no ads. You can download and listen to any public tour without an account. An account saves your stamps and lets you make your own tour.

Does it work without a signal? Yes. A tour downloads to your phone before you start, so it plays without a connection. Download on Wi-Fi to save data.

How much battery does it use? GPS runs for the whole tour, so expect noticeable drain on long routes. Start with at least half a charge, and close other apps that use location.

Can I walk instead of run? Yes. Switch between Walk and Run on the tour page and set your pace. The timing of the stories follows your pace.

Can I follow the route on my watch? Tap "Send to watch" on the tour page to get the route for Garmin, Apple Watch and other watches. Keep your phone with you for the stories.

Does it work with Strava? After a run you can connect Strava to add a Stride Stories line to your activity. Strava limits new apps to a few connections while it reviews them, so connecting may not work for everyone yet. You can also join our Stride Stories App club on Strava.

A road on the route is closed. For big events like the NYC Marathon, the tour page shows a note in the days before. For anything else, follow the street signs, and the app picks you up again when you're back on the route.

Is there an Android version? Not yet. It's coming. Email us and we'll tell you when it's out.

Can you make a tour for my city? Tell us where at [email protected]. Requests decide which cities we add next.

How do I delete my account? In the app, open your account and tap "Delete my account". See the privacy policy for what's deleted.
