The Versace Mansion
Look at 1116 Ocean Drive: three storeys of coral stone, a round tower, iron gates, and a short flight of front steps.
Espanola Way
Look down Espanola Way: a narrow street of pink and peach stucco, arched arcades, striped awnings, tiled roofs and wrought-iron balconies.
Lincoln Road
Look down at the black and white stripes underfoot, like piano keys. They run the length of the mall. Above you, white concrete canopies, with fountains and planters below.
The Holocaust Memorial
Look above the hedges and the pool: a giant bronze arm, with an open hand, rising above them. At the entrance, a grieving mother holds two children pressed against her.
The lifeguard towers
Look out across the sand: lifeguard stands, each one a different shape and colour scheme. They're one of the things that make South Beach look like South Beach.
Ocean Drive and the Art Deco District
Look along Ocean Drive: the row of low pastel hotels, with racing stripes, porthole windows and neon signs. Many of them borrow the Moderne look of the 1930s world's fairs in Chicago and New York.
South Pointe Park
Look straight across the channel: that's Fisher Island. The water between you is Government Cut, and it's man-made.
