Look at the triangular museum building with its tower, looking out over the port. It rises above the point of land where Montreal began.
Look up at the twin towers of Notre-Dame Basilica, facing Place d'Armes.
Look at the long, low stone house across from City Hall. It was built in 1705 for Montreal's governor, Claude de Ramezay. He called it the most beautiful house in Canada. Seventy years later, it had new occupants. From 1775, the American Continental Army used it as its Canadian headquarters, after seizing Montreal.
Look at the long stone building with the big dome. That's Bonsecours Market. It opened in 1847, named for the chapel next door. British architect William Footner designed it, and its look was influenced by Dublin's Custom House.
Look at the white tower at the end of the pier, with four clock faces. This is the Clock Tower, also called the Sailor's Memorial Clock. It marks the entrance to the Old Port, and it was dedicated to the seamen who died in the First World War.
