Look up at the Eiffel Tower. It's a half-scale replica, 540 feet tall. Find the leg that comes down by the Strip. That's one of four. The other three stand inside, on the casino floor.
Look at the fountains in front of Caesars Palace. On New Year's Eve, 1967, Evel Knievel tried to jump them on a motorcycle. To get a meeting with casino boss Jay Sarno, he invented a company and three fake lawyers. That morning he lost his last $100 at blackjack.
Look at the pink and orange neon feathers on the Flamingo. It's the oldest continuously operating resort on the Strip, and Flamingo Road is named after it. The original 1940s low-rise hotel was torn down in the 1990s, though.
Look down the promenade to the giant wheel at the far end. That's the High Roller: 550 feet tall and 520 feet across.
Look at the Venetian: the tall brick bell tower, the Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the canal with its gondolas. Nothing of the Sands survives above ground. But this whole frontage is where it stood, from 1952 to 1996.
